Katherine Legge has some aches and bruises and very little of her race car. During a race at road America in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin Sunday, Legge's rear wing came off as she drive into a corner known as "the kink". That caused her champ car to lose control and slide into the fence. Then the car began to tumble and disintegrate.

Legge's cockpit came to rest upside down and she escaped without and serious injury.

There were ten laps left when the crash occurred. Legge was in 6th place at that time.

She was going between 180 and 185 miles an hour as she went into the corner.
