Streets are almost empty and the airport is full in Denver, Colorado.  Two to three feet of snow has fallen since Wednesday, forcing the closure of the city's airport and numerous roads and highways.

The governor declared a state of emergency, and called in the national guard.

Crews have rescued more than 100 people from stranded cars across the area.

Almost 5,000 people are stuck at the airport which is not expected to reopen until tomorrow.

This is Denver's worst snow storm since march 2003.

Another issue: power outages.

A local power company says 30 to 35 percent of its customers are in the dark.
