Amanda, NEWSChannel 2's Chief Meteorologist was born and raised locally, in Gloversville. She became interested in weather when she was four, during a severe weather outbreak over portions of upstate New York. After a thunderstorm that moved through her hometown spawned a tornado, Amanda was hooked on the weather. Ever since then, severe weather has been her passion. She would keep a daily weather log of local weather and national weather headlines.

After graduating from high school, she attended Mohawk Valley Community College in pursuit of a degree in science. After attending MVCC, Amanda transferred to the State University at Albany to pursue her degree in atmospheric science. Amanda’s senior year of college was her most exciting one. She interned at two local stations in Albany, WTEN, an ABC affiliate, and FOX 23. Amanda also went storm chasing during the spring of 1999.Her chases took her throughout the Plains and the Midwest, with a team compiled of SUNYA undergratuate and graduate students.

Amanda graduated from SUNYA in December 1999, and was hired at WKTV in January 2000.

Amanda’s hobbies include skiing, volleyball, rollerblading, and participating in the National Forecasting contest on the SUNYA forecasting team. She is the proud mother of two children, Patrick and Grace.

Amanda can be seen on the Live at Five Newshour and NEWSChannel 2 at 6:00.
