Bill Kardas is the StormTracker 2 meteorologist for NEWSChannel 2 at Daybreak and Sunrise and NEWSChannel 2 at Noon.

Bill joined the StormTracker 2 team in January of 2006 and helped launch the Weekend Morning Show. Since then, he's made a lot of weather memories here in Central New York. He helped cover the Flood of 2006, the Marcy tornado in July of 2006, the Valentine's Day storm in 2007, the Frankfort & Kirkland tornadoes of 2011, and the Flood of 2013. His real passion lies in forecasting large winter storms. Bill also has a passion for teaching. He visits dozens of schools each year, teaches a climatology course in the fall and spring at Herkimer College, and holds a week long summer weather camp each year at MVCC and Herkimer College.

Bill graduated from SUNY Albany in 2006 with a B.S. in Atmospheric Science and completed his master's degree in geoscience from Mississippi State University. Bill holds a broadcaster seal from the National Weather Association.

Bill loves the outdoors, especially hiking. One of his goals is to climb all 28 fire towers in the Adirondacks and Catskill Park. Bill also loves distance running and has completed three marathons. His favorite road race is the Boilermaker, which he's ran every year since 2006. Bill is the cook in the house, and has his own special (and award winning) Riggies recipe. He loves spending time with his beautiful wife Sara.

Bill welcomes emails, and you can send him your questions or comments to Bill can also found on Facebook ( and Twitter (@BillKardas).
