CHILDREN'S MIRACLE NETWORK 101 What is the Children's Miracle Network? CMN is the alliance of premier children's hospitals. Every year, Children's Miracle Network hospitals treat 17 million children for every disease and injury imaginable. Children's Miracle Network hospitals impact the lives of more children than any other children's organization in the world. These hospitals provide state-of-the-art care, life-saving research and preventative education for children 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. There is a Children's Miracle Network hospital dedicated to serving children in every community across the and. These hospitals are committed to providing the best care for children when they need it. Your support of Children's Miracle Network helps ensure that children have the specialized care they need and deserve. How does Children's Miracle Network raise funds for children's hospitals? Thousands of special events and grassroots fundraisers are conducted year-round through by the hospitals, media partners and corporate volunteers working together to ensure healthy kids in their communities. In addition to the "Children's Miracle Network Celebration Telethon," corporate sponsors sell paper Miracle Balloons, radio stations broadcast Radiothons, and organizations from major local-based companies to civic groups and schools help raise funds and awareness. How will my donation be used? One of Children's Miracle Network's founding commitments is to keep funds within the community in which they are generated. All donations received go directly to the Children's Miracle Network at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare. The hospital uses the funds to provide life-saving pediatric care, education and a variety to other services right here in the
How did Children's Miracle Network get started? Children's Miracle Network began as a small, televised fundraiser in a small studio in 1983. Marie Osmond and John Schneider co-founded the effort along with a small-dedicated team of 20 children's hospitals, 20 television stations, six sponsors and a handful of national staff. Today, Children's Miracle Network is comprised of 170 affiliated hospitals, 107 television partners, 270 radio partners and 75 national corporate sponsors. OUR LOCAL CMN The people who receive help from the Children's Miracle Network at Faxton St. Luke's come from all over A child is never turned away regardless of their families ability to pay. The need for new equipment, programs and services is continually growing. In order for our hospital to be able to meet that need and continue to make an impact in our community we need the community to support our programs and services. Why should individuals support the Children's Miracle Network at Faxton-St. Luke's? >> If you have had a baby, are thinking of having a baby or know someone who has had a baby at Faxton-St. Luke's healthcare you and/or they and the baby have or will be touched by the Children's Miracle Network. >> If your child has ever visited the FSLH Emergency Room or Urgent Care or spent time in our Pediatric Unit they have been touched by funds raised through the Children's Miracle Network. >> If you have ever had to call an ambulance for your child, you have been touched by CMN. Children's Miracle Network helps our local hospital go above and beyond with the quality of care and the people individuals interact with. CMN touches are subtle, yet they make all the difference in the world. >> Offer the area's only Level II Special Care Nursery staffed 24-hours a day, seven days a week by neonatologists, physicians who provide "special care" to sick or premature babies; >> Offer a pediatric cardiology clinic in conjunction with Dr. Frank Smith, Pediatric Cardiologist from
>> Offer an OB Care Clinic for women with little or no health insurance to ensure they have healthy pregnancies; >> Fund a community education program called Project Kids Care, a mobile pediatric training program that provides first responders with continued pediatric training throughout Oneida, Herkimer and Madison Counties; >> Fund a grant that provides speech therapy service to children who are denied by insurance and whose cost is too great for parents. >> Offer a Child Life Specialist who works as a liaison between doctors, nurses and patients. She helps patients and families cope with the fear and anxiety associated with difficult procedures and hospitalizations, and provides developmental play experiences at the bedside and in the activity rooms. |
