Former WKTV newscaster, Jack Fredericks, passes away at age 84

(WKTV) - We have received sad news this week here at WKTV - the loss of a pioneer in local broadcasting and a long time member of the WKTV family.

Jack Fredericks, former newscaster, production engineer and the host of "The Outdoor Sportsman Show" on WKTV, has passed away. Jack's career began in radio at WIBX, while he was still in high school.

Jack was a bomber pilot in World War II and had achieved the rank of Colonel in the Air Force Reserve.

Following the war, Jack joined WKAL radio in Rome - then owned by the Kallet Family. Two years later, when the Kallets started WKTV, Jack Fredericks joined the staff here and stayed here until his retirement in the early 1990's.

Jack Fredericks was 84 years old.
