Lila Mae Bilger

Mrs. Lila Mae Bilger 84 a resident of the Alpine Nursing Home since January of this year, and formerly of 640 State Rt 29 A Salisbury Center, died Tuesday morning May 22, 2012 at the nursing home.

Lila was born in Salisbury on May 17, 1928 the daughter of Ernest J. and Ruth (Petzold) Herringshaw and was educated in rural schools in the town of Salisbury. Her marriage to Edgar Bilger took place on September 10, 1944 in the town of Salisbury. Mr. Bilger predeceased her on October 16, 2007. Lila and her husband enjoyed their family and the 14 foster children that they raised, especially cooking for them at the many holidays throughout the years, she also enjoyed the game of BINGO.

She is survived by her sons and their wives Raymond and Joan Bilger of Salisbury Center, Albert and Fredericka Johnson of Stratford, a daughter Eleanor Mosher of Oppenheim and their Foster Children, Her brothers and their wives Harold and Ruth Herringshaw of Little Falls, Herman and Sis Herringshaw of Stratford and Benjamin Herringshaw of Little Falls, a Sister Gertrude Douglas of St. Johnsville, several grandchildren, great grandchildren and Great- Great Grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon May 25, 2012 at 2:30 PM at the Roberts & Enea Funeral Home 3 Faville Avenue Dolgeville. Rev. Roger Waldron of the Salisbury Center Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will follow in the Salisbury Rural Cemetery. Callings hours are on Friday from 1:30 until the time of the service. Lila entrusted her arrangements to Brian A. Roberts, of the Roberts and Enea Funeral Home.
