Donald I. Baker

CAMDEN- Donald I. “Beer Can” Baker, 79, of Rte. 13, passed away February 1, 2010 at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Syracuse.

Don was born December 20, 1930 in Rome, a son of Walter and Jessie Irish Baker. He served in the U.S. Army including a tour of duty in Korea in 1953. On November 27, 1954 he was married to Marion Mulvaney in Camden.

Don retired from the Camden Wire Co., as a strander in 1993. He was a member of the American Legion-Arthur S. Moran Post #66, the V.F.W. Victor Giles Post #6530 and the I.O.O.B. Club. Don loved to play cards, horseshoes and gardening .

Surviving besides his wife, Mary, are two sisters, Joyce Fanning, Syracuse, Jessie Baker, Rome, two brothers, Morris Baker, Syracuse, Walter ‘Sonny’ Baker, Camden several special friends including Floyd Heath and Dustin Hite, along with many nieces and nephews.

He was pre-deceased by an infant son, a sister Shirley Fuller and four brothers, Floyd, Riley, William and Harold.

Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11:00 am from LaRobardiere Funeral Home, Inc., Camden. Interment St. John’s Cemetery, Camden. Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 4-8pm at the funeral home, 109 Main St.
