Willaim Farley

CAMDEN- William R. “Bill” Farley, 84, passed away March 16, 2010 at Rome Nursing Facility.

He was born on June 9, 1925 in Florence, NY a son of Russell and Beulah Joyner Farley. He was a graduate of Camden High School and on September 23, 1942 he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. Bill was awarded the Silver Star for his courage and devotion while in combat in Saipan, Marianas Islands against the Japanese during WW II.

After the war Bill furthered his education by completing computer technology classes at UNIVAC. He was employed as a computer technician at UNIVAC for many years until his retirement due to illness. On February 18, 1950 Bill was married to Janet Coggins in Utica.

Surviving besides his wife, Janet of 60 years, are two daughters, Roxanne Farley, Camden, Christine McGregor, Sylvan Beach, two sons, Gregg L. Farley, Camden, Patrick and Anne Farley, Ohio, NY, nine grandchildren, six great grandchildren, one sister Mildred Fox, Camden, along with several nieces and nephews.

Bill was predeceased by a son, John “Jack” Farley, in 2006, six brothers and three sisters.

A graveside service will be held on June 9, 2010 at Forest Lawn Cemetery under the direction of LaRobardiere Funeral Home, Inc., 109 Main St., Camden, NY.
