Alison K. Hugel

CLEVELAND- Alison K. Hugel, 73, passed away unexpectedly June 30, 2010. She was born Sept 25, 1936 in Sheffield, Great Britain a daughter of Douglas Ker & Elizabeth Dempsey Jockel. Alison attended the University of Etenboro, Scotland and University of London, where she received her Masters degree in English. She was at one time Captain of the Scottish Women’s National Lacrosse Team.

Alison worked as a social worker at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Montreal for many years. On Sept 24, 1970 she married Robert W. Hugel at the Stone Barn Castle in Cleveland, NY. She along with her husband and family ran the Stone Barn Castle as a tourist attraction from 1972 until 2005.

Surviving besides her husband are three daughters Anna Hugel Keba, San Francisco, CA, Helene Hugel, Dublin, Ireland, Katrina Hugel, Cleveland, NY, three sons, Ulrich Hugel, Portland, OR, William and Robert Hugel, both of San Francisco, a grand daughter, Jamila Keba and a grandson, David Kelby Hugel.

Gtraveside services will be held 3:00pm Tuesday from Maple Flats Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 12- 3 :00 pm at the cemetery, corner of Maple Flats and Tynan Roads, Cleveland, NY. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the LaRobardiere Funeral Home, Inc., Camden, NY. Memorial contributions may be made to Cluster 13 Ministries, Camden, NY.
