Harroufi wins 2011 Boilermaker

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - Ridouane Harroufi of Morocco is the winner of the 2011 Boilermaker Road Race.

The 29-year-old wearing fittingly bib #1, now has two Boilermaker 15K wins under his belt. Harroufi won the Boilermaker back in 2009.

This year's race is not a record setter, but certainly a close call!

But as you see in the video, he had enough time to egg the crowd on just seconds before crossing the finish line.

Last year's winner, Lelisa Desisa of Ethiopia, did not return to defend his title.

The remainder of the 13,000 runners will make their way 9.3 miles through the streets of Utica to the famous Finish Line on Court Street adjacent to the F.X. Matt Brewery in West Utica.

The Boilermaker Post Race Party is where the runners head which is held in the back of the brewery. Of course, Saranac products will be on tap for runners of legal drinking age. For runners under age 21, Saranac Root Beer will be the beverage of choice.
