UTICA, N.Y.(WKTV) - Probably the most festive area along the entire Boilermaker Road Race route, sets in at mile 2.
Where the runners are no longer center stage!

If the music doesn't get you going, maybe the Ritmo Caribeno Latin Dancers might get you moving.

It's the jaunt along Culver Avenue.

Peter Vogelaar, of the Mohawk Valley Resource Center for Refugees says the culture that's been added to brings a lot more to race day.

"This stretch of the run for years didn't have a lot of activity and just getting into the run and this mile gives a lot of music and color and beat and kind of lifts the spirits of the runners as they go by," Vogelaar says.

The Mohawk valley Somali Bantu Community is also well-represented.

For six years now the Mohawk Valley Refugee Center along with MVCC have put together quite a show for the runners to display the diversity available in Utica.
