Boilermaker 15K Road Race is underway

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - The marquee event of Boilermaker Weekend 2010 is now underway with the start of the 15K Road Race. This is the 33rd running of the race and starts from Culver Avenue in East Utica, also known as Earle C. Reed Way.

This is a record field of participants for the 2010 race with over 13,000 runners taking part. That surpasses the last record set with the 30th anniversary of the race in 2007.

The runners will make their way 9.3 miles through the streets of Utica to the famous Finish Line on Court Street adjacent to the F.X. Matt Brewery in West Utica.

The Boilermaker Post Race Party is where the runners head which is held in the back of the brewery. Of course, Saranac products will be on tap for runners of legal drinking age. For runners under age 21, Saranac Root Beer will be the beverage of choice.
