$4,000 raised by Boilermaker Pasta Dinner goes to United Way

By JOLEEN FERRIS

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - The United Way got some serious 'cabbage' from the annual pasta dinner hosted by the Masonic Care Community.

The event raised $3,534 this year, and the Boilermaker added $466 to make it an even $4,000.

On Thursday, a check was presented for that amount to the United Way, whose Executive Director, Brenda Episcopo, says the timing couldn't be better.

"The timing of this is perfect because we have a round of grants that will go out in the fall," Episcopo said. "These are called Community Empowerment Grants and agencies can apply for up to $5,000 for a special project under our funding categories, under a "one-time ask," so this will virtually help support one of those grants."

This was the 14th year for the Boilermaker pasta dinner.
