Vivian Bales finishes Boilermaker for son in Iraq, to be featured on Today Show

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - One special Boilermaker finisher Sunday was Vivian Bales of Illinois.

Vivian Bales' son, Brian, left for Iraq in January. Two days after he left, she started to run and the goal is to not stop until she runs the same amount of miles that separate her from her son.

She completed the 9.3 mile course through Utica and ended at the Finish Line to a massive crowd of applause.

NBC's Today Show is at the Boilermaker to do a piece especially on Vivian Bales' story. Bob Dotson, who does the American Story segment, was just at the NEWSChannel 2 set along with a crew.

The story is a taped piece and will air at a later time. When we learn of details at when it will air, we will let our viewers know.
