Boilermaker announces 2010 scholarship winners

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - The Boilermaker Road Race has announced winners for its sixth annual scholarship, with the recipients being honored during a breakfast at the Radisson Hotel on Friday, June 4.

Boilermaker Scholarship coordinator Richard Hunt, along with Boilermaker Executive Director Tim Reed presented the scholarships to four local high school students/athletes - Frank Mastraccio of Rome Free Academy, Eric Stevens of Holland Patent, Kaitlyn Day of Whitesboro, and Allison Lasnick of Canastota.

The winners received a plaque, a $1,000 check, a free entry into the 2010 Boilermaker 15K and a Boilermaker Book.

Frank Mastraccio, a senior at Rome Free Academy, earned the Outstanding Achievement in Distance Running award.

Kaitlyn Day, a senior from Whitesboro High School, also received the Outstanding Achievement in Distance Running award.

Eric Stevens, a senior at Holland Patent High School won the Outstanding Commitment in Distance Running award.

Allison Lasnick, a senior from Canastota High School also earned the Outstanding Commitment in Distance Running award.

"the Boilermaker is proud to acknowledge these student/athletes for their commitment to education and the sport of running," Reed said.
