Bib pick-up at the 2012 Boilermaker Expo

By WKTV News

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - By March, all spots were gone for both the 15K and 5K Boilermaker Road Races, but for those who are hitting the pavement on Sunday, one of the most important things you can do at the Boilermaker Expo is pick up your running bib.

You pick up your bibs in the Mohawk Valley Community College (Utica Campus) gym, which is right next door to the Field House. To pick up a race packet, all registered runners must have a photo ID. If you have to pickup someone else's packet for them, you will need at least a copy of their photo ID.

Organizers say they like the move to Mohawk Valley Community College. In years past, the Expo was held outside on the Masonic Care Community campus.

"For the first thing, it's cooler, nice and air conditioned," said Ken Zioboro, Packet Pickup Coordinator. "It gets easier every year. We used to have the packets and the chips separate. Now it's just one, plain 'ol bib. Now all the runners have to do is pick up the goody bag, a few pins and they're all set to go."

After you pick up you race packet, you then make your way over to the new field house at Mohawk Valley Community College, where you pick up your goody bag, and check out the dozens of vendors that have set up booths.
