Boilermaker Expo moves indoors after severe weather of the past

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - The Boilermaker Expo will be held at Mohawk Valley Community College in Utica for the first time ever.

For the past 15 years, the event has been held at the Masonic Care Community.

Bib pick- up and the three mile walk registration will happen in the gym of Mohawk Valley Community College.

Goody bags, merchandise and vendors, will be located in the Fieldhouse.

The IT Building will house the runner's induction ceremony on Saturday. Youth run registration will be held in the Alumni Csenter.

After severe weather last year and in years past posed a safety concern for thousands of people outside in tents, Boilermaker officials say they decided to move the event indoors.

More than 60 vendors will set up booths and there will be plenty of entertainment for children and adults alike.

"There is something for everyone," said Chris DelMonte, Expo director. "When you focus on overall general health at the Expo and just giving people the opportunity to see different things in the area in one room."

The Boilermaker Expo will be held Friday, July 6, from 12 pm to 7 pm and Saturday, July 7, 8 a.m to 4:30 p.m.
