Boilermaker officials: 1,956 people signed up for 15k so far

UTICA, N.Y. - In an effort to keep local runners aware of registration for the 2011 Boilermaker updated numbers will be forwarded to local media outlets weekly.

This year a registration cap has been set for both the 15K and 5K races. The cap is set for 13,000 runners for the 15K and 4,000 for the 5K. The 3-mile walk, which takes place on Saturday, July 9 will not be capped.

To date, 11,956 people have signed up for the 15k, while 177 are registered for the 5k. Last year at this time, 638 runners were signed up for the 15k and 45 for the 5k.

"It may be hot in July, but you don't want to be left out in the cold," said Race Director Jim Stasaitis. "Register now."

Currently, on-line registrations are being accepted at Paper applications will initially be available Saturday, February 5 at the New Hartford and Rome Planet Fitness locations 9 a.m. until Noon.

These releases will occur every Monday until the registration caps have been reached. The 34th running of the Boilermaker will take place on Sunday, July 10, 2011.
