Boilermaker 15K registration closed, race reaches cap

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - Just after 9 a.m. on Saturday, the 13,000th runner signed up for the 15K Boilermaker Road Race, closing registration for the 2011 race.

Boilermaker officials capped this year's 15K at 13,000 because they said they wanted to keep the race safe and comfortable for runners. The 2010 race saw just about that number of runners and race officials say they thought that it was "the perfect amount."

You still have time to sign up for the 5K, that is capped at 4,000 runners. So far, just more than 1,500 have signed up.
