UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - With just three days to go until America's Best 15k in the Country, hundreds of area youngsters started getting in the Boilermaker spirit, Thursday.
The Annual Youth Olympics took place at Proctor Park, and it is sponsored by the city.
The kids took part in several activities including a home run derby, basketball shootout, jump rope checkers, and connect four.
Many summer programs bring their kids here to compete.
"Oh it's great, it's great, it's rewarding, that's why we do it," said Chet LoConti, Assistant Rec. Director of Utica. "That's why I work for the Youth Bureau, we've got all the pools and parks open too, we get the kids that come to the pools and parks to participate in the events also."
A lot of the kids will also take part in the annual Boilermaker Youth Run on Saturday.
