Locals Celebrate Sunday Mass the Old Fashioned Way

HERKIMER - Members of the Herkimer community celebrated Sunday mass in a unique way.

Notes from the old piano echoed outside the walls of the old Fort-Herkimer Church Sunday morning.
    
It was all part of the annual Independence Day celebration at the oldest building in Herkimer and one of the oldest churches in the state. Organizers say in colonial times the church often served as the focal point and meeting place for the community.

newsflash: this was a church service, not a Mass. A mass is celebrated in the Catholic church when the bread and wine are consecrated into the body and blood of Christ. Get it right next time.
