COOPERSTOWN, N.Y. (WKTV) - This is the first year that retired major league players took part in the Baseball Hall of Fame game instead of the major leaguers themselves. The game is now called the Hall of Fame Classic.

Many fans would like to see current major leaguers, but many are happier to see the old timers like Ferguson Jenkins and Phil Niekro.

The sights and sounds of the annual parade were there once again on Sunday down Main Street. The only thing different this year: the guys in their uniforms waving to all the fans were a little older. Baseball fan Lou Smith of Rome said, "when I heard about this I said you know, this might be better."

Major League Baseball decided last year to no longer hold the Hall of Fame game at Doubleday Field where two major league teams come in and play an exhibition game during their regular season schedule.

Dave Nimmo of Rome said, "I couldn't believe they were doing it, there's got to be a way for them to reschedule two major league teams, but we'll see how this one goes though. I think it's going to be just as well."
