Autumn celebrated 18th Century style at the Herkimer HomeHERKIMER, N.Y. (WKTV) - Dozens came out Sunday to celebrate the Autumn season, only this celebration was themed with 18th Century style. The annual Herkimer Homestead day was held at the Herkimer Home on State Route 169. The Herkimer Home is the home of Revolutionary War hero, General Nicholas Herkimer. The event brought people back to the days of the 18th century. On display were crafts, food and music from the time more than 230 years ago. Children and adults alike were given the opportunity to become 18th century workers for the day. Tom Kernan, the historic site manager said, "we're doing meat smoking, candle making, soap making along with a variety of other activities." children also got to pick their own pumkins and take them home for Halloween. |
