Freedom From Running Walk and Run held along Barge CanalUTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - The annual Freedom From Running Walk and Run was held today Saturday along the Barge Canal in North Utica. The event is designed to raise awareness about domestic violence and it caps off a week long of events put on by the YWCA's "Week Without Violence." The funds raised benefit the organization's domestic violence programs which serve individuals throughout Oneida County. Race Director Patrice Joslyn said, "this is the second year in a row that it has rained terribly and maybe that's about resilience and resilience in women and resilience for people that they need to move forward despite some obstacles in their lives." This is the fifth year of the Freedom From Running 5K Walk and Run. |
