HERKIMER, N.Y. - Herkimer County Community College recently held its annual Alcohol Awareness Week event which included a mocktail contest and simulation activities.

Eight student clubs participated in the mocktail contest, with prizes being awarded for the best substance abuse awareness message and best tasting mocktail.

The Travel Club’s slogan, “Try our drink - it will make you think how you can have a ball, without alcohol!” took the grand prize.

With assistance from the Herkimer County Prevention Council, a DWI simulation course was set up, and HCCC Peace Officers were available to talk with students about what to expect if they are pulled over due to drinking and driving.
