Tu Cocina opens its doors to public as new Spanish restaurant

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - If you want to add a little spice to your diet, there is now a new Spanish restaurant on Genesee Street you can add to your list of dinning options.

Tu Cocina opened the doors to their dinning room Friday. The menu is a blend of different cultural cuisines, mainly featuring Caribbean and Spanish standards.

It used to be a Chinese restaurant on Genesee Street but because of the difference between Tu Cocina's food and their predecessor's, the owners had to do a complete overhaul of the kitchen.

One of the owners says the local community will decide if they are a success or not. Miguel Rorel said, "we have a lot of faith in the Utica community and hopefully we'll be successful."

Tu Cocina features 15 daily special ranging from $5 to $7.
