Local schools come to Utica for drill meetUTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - Young people from Buffalo, Syracuse and Rochester made their way to the Mohawk Valley Saturday to take on their counterparts from Utica in the second annual General Von Steuben Invitational Drill Meet at Proctor High School. Eight high schools in all participated in ten different events. The event requires precision and lots of practice and gives kids leadership skills and builds confidence, but at the same time prepares them for the next level. Comander Robert Piper, a naval science instructor at Proctor says, "they all strive to go to their national service related junior ROTC drill meet, and in order to get there, they obviously have to compete and do well some of their more competitive regional drill meets." The local teams competing included Proctor, Notre Dame and RFA. Most Popular |
