Marine Corps League begins shopping for Christmas charity eventMOHAWK, N.Y. (WKTV) - Members of the Marine Corps League of Herkimer County started their Christmas shopping Saturday for their annual Toys for Tots event. When you are out and about for your Christmas shopping, there is a good chance you might see some retired Marines shopping right alongside you. Saturday, they started at the Family Dollar store in Mohawk, The Marines shop when there are big toy sales so they can maximize the donations that come in all year to help families during the holidays. Richard Mayhew, the event chairman said, "every child needs a little Christmas. That's what it says on my hat, a toy for every child. That's what we do. Anybody that requests the help, we want to make sure that we give it to them." The Marine Corps League has a chapter in both Herkimer and Oneida Counties. If you are interested in signing up for their big toy give-away on December 19, just contact your local chapter. Most Popular |
