UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - After a year's worth of work, Utica's Veterans Center will open in just over a week, and will include an internet cafe and housing.

The idea behind this renovated and furnished space is to give veterans internet resources to help them find jobs and get back on their feet. Federal funds helped push the program along, including paying dozens of teens from the area to learn the construction trade and rebuild the building.

Construction is not finished just yet, but Oneida County Workforce Investment Board Director Alice Savino hopes that by Spring, 30 beds located on the third floor will be livable.

The center is also waiting for computers which are expected to be delivered before the November 11 opening.
