Free car washes and meals offered to those who serve and have served
(WKTV) - Veterans around the area were honored at ceremonies across the region Wednesday, and local businesses did their part to show their appreciation, offering the likes of free car washes, and meals. Clifford Fuel Company is taking part in Grace for Vets Day 2009, honoring veterans and service personnel on Veterans Day with free car washes across the nation. Hundreds of car washes have participated in this program, with a growing list each year. Participating Clifford Fuel Car Washes will be offering the free wash to veterans and service personnel from 7 am - 8 pm on Wednesday at the New York Mills Citgo Nice-n-Easy on Commercial Drive and Henderson Street, the North Utica Citgo on on North Genesee Street and Herkimer Road, and the Washington Mills Self-Service Wand Wash on Oneida Street. Meanwhile, after getting the car cleaned, veterans can head over to Applebee's Neighborhood Bar and Grill, who is thanking U.S. Veterans and active duty military for their service to the country with a free meal. On Veterans Day only, veterans and those on active duty who show proof of U.S. Military service can choose one free entrée from the following options: *7 ounce House Sirloin All 1,900 Applebee's locations across the country are participating.
