100 teddy bears donated for Sheriff's Department to give to traumatized children

By ANGELICA MORRISON

ONEIDA COUNTY, N.Y. (WKTV) - Responding to car accidents and crimes throughout the county isn't the only thing Oneida County Sheriff's Deputies do every day.

They also help children get through traumatic experiences and the Lake Delta Kiwanis Club recently helped them with their mission by donating 100 teddy bears.

The bears were donated as part of the "Buddy Bear" program.

"These are used by our deputies out on the road or our investigators who work with children," said Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol. "The most common one would be like a car accident where a child is involved or a loved one is involved and the child is upset."

This is the first year the club picked the department to receive the bears.
