100 winter coats donated to local children in need

By JOLEEN FERRIS

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - One hundred winter coats are on their way to local children who need them, thanks to the partnership between a local retailer and human services agency.

Herb Philipson's in the New Hartford Shopping Center donated 100 children's coats and the United Way will coordinate with the various social service agencies to make sure the coats get to the kids who need them.

"United Way is strategically positioned to have a network of social service providers who let us know what the heartbeat of the community is and where the needs are and we're using those agencies and organizations to make sure they distribute the coats to those individuals who have the greatest need, " says United Way Director of Marketing and Communications, Susan Woods.

It's the second year Herb Philipson's has donated coats to the United Way's coat campaign. Woods expects the coats to be in the hands of the kids who need them by the end of the month.
