Annual Ted Moore run held at MVCC

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - At Mohawk Valley Community College, runners enjoyed the beautiful Saturday morning weather in the 15th annual Ted Moore Run.

The event is held to raise awareness of the dangers of drinking and driving. Ted Moore was an associate professor in MVCC's math department from 1981 until his death in 1996. He was hit by a drunk driver while out for a morning run.

Race Director Deanna Ferro said, "We're sponsored by the Oneida County Stop DWI Program, and the message behind this is that people really need to, if you're going to drink, get a designated driver, call a family member of take a cab, just by making a poor choice can change the lives of so many people."

Proceeds from the event will benefit an MVCC scholarship in Ted Moore's name, as well as area agencies whose mission is drug and alcohol abuse prevention and treatment.
