Benefit held to help Mohawk man suffering from injury

MOHAWK, N.Y. (WKTV) - Mohawk native Jeff Brown is working hard in rehab to recover from a spinal cord injury. A fundraiser was held at the American Legion on West Main Street in Mohawk.

There was a chicken barbecue, bake sale, auction, live bands and several raffles including a 1973 restored Arctic Cat snowmobile.

More than 700 people turned out for the event.

Event organizer Owen March, said, "I think this turnout is awesome. I think these people are great. Everybody is more than willing to spend their money to help him. We've had some pretty big donations. Even the small donations, everything is appreciated."

All proceeds from Saturday's fundraiser are going towards a complete renovation of Jeff's house and to help offset some medical expenses.
