"Boilermaker Burger" makes its debut on area restaurant menus

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - There is a new burger in town, but it won't be around for long.

The Boilermaker Burger is now on the menu at Babe's and Carmella's restaurants, put together with help from the New York Beef Industry Council and a public vote.

Council representative Jean O'Toole says it is important to eat carbs heading into the race, but that you should also add a protein to that dish of pasta.

"Beef especially," O'Toole said. "The zinc, iron, protein...51 percent of your recommended daily is in three ounces of protein. You can get your carbs for quick energy but that's (the protein) going to get you there in the end."

The burger features swiss cheese, pepper bacon and a sauce that mixes barbecue sauce and mayo, topped off with onion petals and served on a toasted roll from DeIorios.

The burger is available for only a limited time and will remain on the Carmella's and Babe's menus until July 16.
