Buddy Walk considered a friend-raiser

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - A light drizzle did not stop hundreds from taking part in the Buddy Walk for Down Syndrome Awareness in Utica Sunday morning. The one mile walk began and ended at Hanna Park.

Donations and pledges were accepted, but not required.

Raising money was not the goal behind Sunday's event. Louis Tehan, the CEO of Upstate Cerebral Palsy said, "This is an unusual walk and it's really not a fundraiser. It's a friend-raiser. Our goal today is to develop awareness and advocacy for individuals of all ages with down syndrome."
