Community takes new coat of paint to Utica diner

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - A group of people in West Utica took advantage of the nice weather on Sunday and helped a local business owner with a new coat of paint.

"Jeanette's Disha Vu Diner" is opening up at the corner of Noyes Street and Lincoln Avenue. Owner Jeannette Speciale couldn't afford to have the building painted professionally, so a group of volunteers turned out to lend a hand.

"We're re-doing the restaurant and we've got a couple of really beautiful days, so we decided to recruit a few people and help us paint the building," Speciale said. "We re-did the inside a lot it's all going to be a retro 50's, that's our theme."

Jeanette is the mother of Oneida County Legislator Harmony Speciale, who organized this effort for her mother.
