Fort-To-Fort Run kicks off running season in CNY

ROME, N.Y. (WKTV) - It's the unofficial start to the running season and it takes place each April in Rome. The 25th running of the Fort-To-Fort 5k and 10k run took place Saturday morning.

The race began at Rome Free Academy and ended at Fort Stanwix.

It's called Fort-To-Fort because it used to begin at Fort Griffiss, yes Griffiss was a fort before it became an airbase.

Roman Runners President Cindy Reynolds said "It's a collaboration between the Red Cross and the Roman Runners and the relationship has really worked well through the years and while we appreciate the fact that we raise a lot of money for the Red Cross, we also appreciate the fact that we put on a quality race."

That quality race attracted more than 550 runners this year.
