Fundraiser held for little girl with rare blood disorder
UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - A fundraiser was held Sunday for Ella Rose Gianotti, a local little girl born with a rare blood disorder, which causes a life-threatening Anemia.
The rare disease requires regular blood transfusions and extensive medical care.
There is one chance of beating this, a bone marrow transplant, but the person donating would have to be a perfect match. Ella's eight-year-old sister, Sophia, is that perfect match for a bone marrow transplant, something her family is thrilled about.
The transplant will take place at the Boston Children's Hospital. The family will have to stay near the hospital for a long period of time, as Ella goes through extensive Chemotherapy to kill off the bad cells. The money collected at the fundraiser will help take care of some of these expenses.
People are also invited to give donations if they were not able to make the event. Please email email@example.com.
