Get ready for maple weekend around Central New York

VERNON, N.Y.(WKTV) - Maple syrup season is here in Central New York. This weekend's big maple event in Oneida County is at Vernon-Verona-Sherrill High School.

There are several events around the area. The Maple Syrup Association has a listing of all events around the state, listed county by county.

If you head out to VVS High School, you'll want to get there between 7 am and 1 pm Saturday or Sunday.

There will be guided tours and tastings. You can learn more about the process of tapping and gathering the syrup.

The tapping ceremony and the Maple Queen and Maple Princess presentations will take place on Sunday.
