UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV)- Just as things get interesting in the high school basketball scene, the Hoops and Dreams Project has another tournament planned.

All day on Saturday you can catch a game at Proctor High School.

It is the 25th event as part of the cause and if you've been in the past, you know it's more than just basketball.

Speakers will be motivating players and fans in between competition and organizers say if you have the right attitude, everything else will fall into place.

"Our main focus will be seeing what we can do to reduce gun violence in the City of Utica and surrounding communities," said Patrick Johnson, event organizer. "Also raising awareness of the value of an education, the importance of making neighborhoods safe."

The tournament runs all day on Saturday at Proctor High School's gym and this year's theme is "renewing your mind."

The Hoops and Dreams Tournament happens in February and July every year.
