Hundreds come out for March of Dimes walk

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - The sunshine made it a nice walk for the hundreds who came out to Mohawk Valley Community College to raise life-saving research and educational programs aimed at helping moms have healthy babies.

The event's original name was "Walk America." The name was changed a few years ago to "The March for Babies," making it clear on what the March of Dimes program is all about.

CNY's March of Dimes board chairperson Jim McCarthy said, "My two daughters were both born premature, so it made it personal to me and very real."

Walks are also taking place in Syracuse, Oswego, Binghamton and Ithaca.
