Local company sending school supplies to girls in Kabul

ORISKANY, N.Y. (WKTV) - A local company is working to make sure children around the world have brand new school supplies.

Max. L. Cowen's Student Stores located in Oriskany will be shipping 500 bags of markers, pencils, crayons, notebooks, and more to Razia's Ray of Hope in Kabul.

"It's a really nice charity because none of the girls there would have learned because they don't educate women," said Dan Smith, CEO of Max L. Cowen's Student Stores.

Smith teamed up with the Tom Deirlien Foundation, which has been working with the school in Kabul. Cowen's Student Stores is providing school supplies at a discounted rate to to send overseas.

Over the past six months, Cowen's Student Stores has sent 7,000 school supply packs around the world.
