UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - A local filmmaker in need of a jumpstart to his new film entitled "The Vampire" is sinking his teeth into the Kickstarter website to raise funds for the flick.

Film producer Geoff Orlowski has set a goal of raising $5,000 for his film and has already raised $2,000 as of this writing with 39 backers.

Orlowski says the film will be shot throughout the City of Utica and will use local actors.

"The whole concept is crowd funding," Orlowski said, explaining how Kickstarter works. "You get a whole group of people together and to throw a little towards, my goal is five thousand for instance, to produce this film. So everybody contributes a small portion and they get more, so there are benefits to backing project."

Orlowski says that it's a fun way to let everyone get involved with the making of a local film .
