By PAT BAILEY

ROME, N.Y. (WKTV) - For the 25th straight year, the NAACP in Rome held a breakfast and devotional program in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

President of the NAACP Rome Chapter Phonon Perrilloux says the annual event is a way to recognize and focus on the work of Dr. King.

"It means this nation is going to have to recognize the fact that it is a mixture of various cultures and races and backgrounds," Perrilloux said. "All of which should be celebrated, all of which should be encouraged so the person...the individual...can be all they can be in their community, as well as working with others in their groups."

Two speakers outlined 16 different injustices in Dr. King's life leading up to his assassination.
