New Hartford woman's centennial celebrated on Today Show

A local woman was recognized Thursday morning on national television for her recent celebration of 100 years.

Henrietta Kuhn of New Hartford turned 100 on April 3, but on Thursday, she was featured on NBC's The Today Show as part of the Smucker's Birthday segment with Willard Scott.

Surrounded by family and friends, Henrietta celebrated her centennial with friends and family by her side at Lutheran Care in Clinton on April 3, but due to the scheduling and taped segments of the Today Show schedule, her birthday didn't air until May 30.

Henrietta grew up on a farm outside of Utica in 1913 and was a member of the popular "Vanderwood Sisters" basketball team. Henrietta, along with her four sisters traveled the area entertaining fans with the team. She says the secret to her longevity is working hard, playing hard and living, loving and laughing.
