ORISKANY, N.Y. (WKTV) - It might have been hard to fit all the candles on Agatha Richards cake.

The Oriskany native turned 107 years old on Wednesday at the Eastern Star Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Born January 9, 1906 in Oriskany, she lived independently in the village until she was 101 years old.

Graduating from Oriskany High School, she was a homemaker and is currently the only surviving sibling of eight.

She has one living son, Lee Richards, who currently resides in Kansas and spoke with his mom on her birthday.

Officials at Easter Star say Agatha enjoyed a sip of Non-Alcoholic Beer and a few bites of pizza, a tradition Agatha has enjoyed for many years while celebrating her Birthday.

Agatha was surrounded Tuesday in celebration with her extended family at Eastern Star, where she has resided for the past 6 years.

When they sang Happy Birthday to her, she opened her eyes and said "Thank you very much."

Agatha was a past member of the Valley Garden Club, enjoyed singing, music and dancing. One of her favorite hobbies included raising Irish Setters.
