Players of Utica wins four awards from the Theater Association of New York State

UTICA, N.Y. -  Players of Utica kicked off the 100th Subscription Season on September 21, 2012 with Enchanted April by Mathew Barber from the book by Elizabeth von Arnim. The show is directed by Eric Almleaf and features Players veterans and newcomers to their stage at 1108 State Street in Utica.
On Saturday evening, Paul Nelson, an adjudicator from the Theater Association of New York State (TANYS), made the 4-hour trip from Olean, NY to attend and adjudicate the performance. Players of Utica and the production have been honored with four awards from TANYS as follows:

  • Outstanding Contribution to Non-Professional Theatre to the Players of Utica for 100 Years of Production Excellence
  • Excellence in Costuming to Laurie Marshall
  • Meritorious Achievement in Direction to Eric Almleaf
  • Meritorious Achievement in Ensemble Acting to the Cast

"This is an honor that Players of Utica, the cast and crew of Enchanted April, and the entire community can be proud of", noted director Eric Almleaf. "We have an exciting season of shows planned for the community and I can think of no better way to begin the 100th Season than being honored in this way.", stated Vince Scalise, Players of Utica President.
The show will run this weekend on Thursday, September 27th, Friday, September 28th, and Saturday, September 29th at 7:30 pm. Tickets are available at or 315-724-7624.
