Runners take part in Delta Lake Half Marathon

DELTA LATE, N.Y. (WKTV) - The Roman Runners Club held its sixth annual Delta Lake Half Marathon Sunday at the Delta Lake State Park on Route 46.

About 200 runners set off on the 13.1 mile course which circles Delta Lake through the Towns of Western and Lee.

The runners have a great view of the Delta Dam. It's known as the best half marathon by a dam site.

Race Director Ann Meisenhelder said, "But this is a beautiful course, a beautiful area, challenging in the beginning with a couple hills, kind of a nice neighborhood, the view of the lake is always to your left, and it's just beautiful."

A portion of the proceeds will benefit the YMCA children's camp Crooked Arrow.

A member of our NEWSChannel 2 family is celebrating a strong finish. Meteorologist Bill Kardas crossed the finish line in one hour, 43 minutes and 59 seconds, beating his previous best by two seconds.

Congratulations to Bill and all of the runners.
